14 BIO BASED At senator® we actively follow the latest Research and Development in alternative materials to reduce the CO₂ footprint and see these develop- ments very positively! Currently, we are already processing bio-based plastics from sugar cane in four successful ball pen models and producing five models from post-industrial recycled plastic. BIOBASED PLASTICS (PLA) RECYCLED PLASTICS (R-ABS) We use a PLA based on renewable re- sources for our bio products. Our PLA is made from sugar cane. One of the most efficient raw materials for PLA production. We use an ABS recompound based on >95% recycled material. This means reu- sing industrial production remnants and waste, returns and everyday products.
